INTRODUCTION:-

Bhrigu Lake is a high altitude glacial lake located in the upper Kullu valley on the eastern side of the popular Rohtang Pass in Himachal Pradesh. A perfect trekking opportunity for beginners and experienced trekkers as well as families, Bhrigu Lake Trek is full of nature’s wonders.Perched at an altitude of 14,000 feet, this trek offers spectacular views of alpine meadows and meadows and you will catch a glimpse of the seven sister peaks. 

The bird’s eye view of the snow-capped mountains and their reflection on the lake is ample. An opportunity for shutterbugs to capture nature in all its glory. Trek history is steeped in mythology. It is believed that the famous saint Maharishi Bhrigu used to do penance near the lake. Not only is the lake the major attraction in the trek but the beautiful meadows that cover the valley are a treat in themselves.

Walk through tree cover and moderate steep climbs to enter the meadows and soon you will be captivated by all the beauty around you The Bhrigu Lake trek takes place in stunning alpine meadows that stretch as far as your eyes can cover and the slopes of the mountain seem to be an endless blanket of green.

If you’re lucky, you’ll see horses galloping around the meadows or grazing on pastures. You will also see the mighty Pir Panjal and Dhauladhar range dominating the horizon around you. To see the grasslands at their greenest, it is ideal that you visit Bhrigu Lake In the months between July to September and you will also be able to see a lot of wildflowers. 

The grasslands may change color from time to time but they will be with you till Bhrigu Lake.Easily accessible from Manali it is a perfect weekend trek for singles as well as group travelers and families

ABOUT THE TREK:-

Bhrigu Lake is 22 km away from Manali and is easily accessible from Gulaba. While most of the high-altitude glacial lakes are difficult to reach and may take a few days of trekking, crossing difficult terrain before seeing the lake. But there is no such complication in the case of Bhrigu Lake, and trekking through the beautiful alpine meadows, you will soon arrive at the lake. Due to the easy grades, Bhrigu Lake attracts both beginners and experienced trekkers and anyone with a basic level of fitness can easily do the trek. 

On your second day of the trek, you will reach the enchanting glacial lake and you can sit there, embracing nature, enjoying the serenity of the environment. Since the lake is situated at a high altitude, clouds we’ll float around you, making it a perfect place to refresh and rejuvenate. 

While the lake remains frozen for most of the year, during the summer you will be able to experience the lake in its blue-green colour.You will also get a bird’s eye view of Manali, Gulaba and Solang valleys from the lake. Once you enter the meadows, you will be able to see the Pir Panjal and Dhauladhar range and from the Panduropa side, you can see the Humpta valley peaks like Indrasan and Dev Tibba. On the other hand, there is Hanuman Tibba Peak,Dosti, Shetidar,Gyapancho,Chandrabhaga Peak, and more!

THINGS TO CARRY:-

BASIC GEARS 

  1. Carry a comfortable 

Shoulder strap backpack with rain cover (40 – 50 liters).

2) Carry a day pack (with rain cover) if you want to take off your backpack.

3) Walking sticks or trekking poles will help you a lot during the trek.

4) Water bottle is a must. Make sure to carry at least a 1 liter bottle. You can also carry 2 water bottles.

5) Energy bars, dry fruits, electricals/or are very important and can give you an instant energy boost.

CLOTHING:-

6) Trek Pants – 2 synthetic (avoid shorts, fitting denims, capris)

T-shirt – 2/3 (Non-cotton)

A sweater or a fleece jacket

A good quality down jacket.

Wear layers. It is always better to wear a thick jacket.

Please make sure you get some thermals (both lower and upper). 

Sweaters that will serve as the middle layer. Take at least 1-2 for the trip

Waterproof / windproof down / fleece jackets that will serve as an outer covering to protect against cold winds.

7) Carry a raincoat or poncho as we might get some rain during the trek.

8) Winter cap to cover your ears and scarf to cover your neck.

9) Make sure to have a few pairs of socks, both cotton and wool.

10) A pair of good hiking boots. You can also bring a pair of floaters if you want your feet to breathe after the trek.

11) A pair of waterproof gloves.

PERSONAL UTILITIES 

13) Chapstick, sunscreen lotion, sunglasses, hand sanitizer, antibacterial powder, moisturizer, toilet paper and wipes, quick dry towels, toothbrush and toothpaste.

14) Girls, we would advise you to carry sanitary pads/tampons during travel considering the number of women with irregular menstrual cycles.

ENTERTAINMENT:-

15) Get any game you want like playing cards, uno cards, ball, frisbee.

16) If you have a pair of speakers, please get them. It’ll be fun to play music on the bus and in the rooms when we’re out partying.
